Thor comes originally from the mythology as Odin’s son and his character was adopted by the Marvel Comic universe.
He was born in a magical realm called Asgard. Favoured by his father, Odin and envied by his adopted brother Loki. He grew up as a King with power and popularity. After breaking the truce between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants, his father punished Thor and sent him to the Earth and took away his hammer and with it his powers, becoming a simple human.
On the comic series he was also punished by taking out his memories of being an Asgardian and putted in to the body of Donald Blake, a graduated doctor who fell in love of Jane Foster, a caring ad skilful nurse. He was Thor again after 10 years when the Kronans, a group of hostile aliens, tried to invade the Earth. After this event Thor was living on Earth keeping his secret identity and living as Donald Blake.
Thor is a powerful hero, part of The Avengers, that has become more popular after the first film release on 2011, and will continue growing his popularity with the film The Avengers and the sequel Thor 2, planned to be released by Disney the 15th of November 2013.
